While some fruits are ready-to-eat or easily peeled and popped into your mouth, other fruits require a bit more effort. That is why Piñabar developed their signature product: a machine that cuts up fresh pineapples in supermarkets for consumers. The company started out in Europe in 2015 and quickly grew to have a worldwide presence. The original machine allows consumers to cut their pineapples in two ways: into spears or into a cylinder. Now, a new add-on has been released that will make it possible for the machine to not only do vertical but also horizontal cuts; this will allow consumers to also choose to cut their pineapples into either disks or chunks.
Michel van Keeken is Piñabar’s CCO, and he explains: “With this new edition, we might expand our customer base and get some interest from the food service industry, because these new cut-types could be popular at events. We are expecting to see an expansion to any field where consumers might want to have access to a quick snack because these new cuts can turn pineapples into a healthy and tasty snack in no-time.”
This new development of the Piñabar is an add-on, so existing customers who already have the Piñabar in their stores don’t have to purchase a whole new machine but rather they can have their own machines altered to include this expansion.
